ENTERPRISE LAZARUS
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING | CULINARY SCHOOL | RESTAURANT
Enterprise Lazarus addresses long-term homelessness in New York City. The project provides supportive housing through a “housing first” model while culinary training and a restaurant offer job training and practical experience.
The design of Enterprise Lazarus explores transformation and deconstruction-reconstruction through program, form and materials. The Brooklyn-based building is deceptively split in half with residences and related functions on one side, culinary-related functions on the other and a light well down the entire center allowing for the maximum number of resident housing units. Bridges “stitch” the building back together by connecting the two sides across the resultant open courtyard.
